Interestingly neck and shoulder pain is generally higher in women, higher in high-income countries compared with low- and middle-income countries and higher in urban areas compared with rural areas. Most studies indicate a higher incidence of neck pain among women and an increased risk of developing neck pain until the 35-49-year age group.

One of the most widely prescribed medications for neck and shoulder pain is an anti-inflammatory or some type of narcotic. After suffering for many years from this type of pain, some see these medications as their only answer for relief. The thing is, all those painkillers are not good for your stomach and the long periods of rest you’ve been told about, that’s not likely to be doing you much good either.

Hereford Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine is an outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinic serving the communities of Northern Baltimore County and Southern Pennsylvania. Our clinic opened in the fall of 2002, with the goal of helping our patients Stay Active, Mobile & Healthy. The staff at Hereford Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine includes several licensed Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants as well as Athletic Trainers with over 100 years combined of experience in treating and caring for patients.

We utilize several techniques of physical therapy in our approach to patient care. These include manual techniques, patient specific exercise and mobility, functional and balance activities to name just a few.
